How To Be Alone, Not Lonely

It’s just me, 3 cats, and a dog.  Darting and tumbling around this huge, 15 room, shabby-chic home.  The favorite son is AWAY (temporarily), and I am lost.

Soon the boy/man will start his last year of high school.  By next September, the nest will be empty for reals.

Then what will I do? Join the foreign service?  Teach abroad? Get a law degree?  Sell the house? Oh my.  Prospects seem to go on forever.

I have about a year to figure that out.

My intention is to thoughtfully devote this school year learning how to be alone.

  1. You can do anything you want–taking some time to figure it out is a great idea.

I must say though–college has not really seemed like there away for good, just away for a while.
