December 9 – Party Prompt: Party. What social gathering rocked your socks off in 2010? Describe the people, music, food, drink, clothes, shenanigans. (Author: Shauna Reid)
2009 has not been a big year for social interaction, let alone parties. Except for the library book circle Christmas party. Which was really just dinner. But it was perfect.
What could be better than hanging out with a bunch of smart, kind, interesting women talking about books, education, and social issues? Well, it was fun for me. The music was folksy, christmas-y, not my favorite, but also not as bad as it could have been. The food was good, I had red pepper hummus and a big salad. We all had a glass of wine, I had merlot. Most of us were wearing snow boots, jeans and sweaters, although some women were wearing <shudders> Christmas sweaters. But that’s OK, once a year and all that.
I put aside my unbloggable crisis situation for three hours. That was the extent of the shenanigans, but what a blessing it was.
